The Empath & Clutter: Numbing-out Emotions

Nothing like home renovations to trigger an empath, the need for a sacred space is imperative to an empath, and when it is disrupted, it can be difficult for an empath to recharge.
Clutter will make you tired, and you will find it difficult to think when you do want to get things done.

Our furnace stopped working in March, and this snowballed to start a basement renovation. The basement had been my workshop space for my career as a makeup artist, hair, and wig artist but this all needed to be moved throughout our home.

This, triggered me into several discoveries may be, it is time to let go of this career and all the equipment I need for it. It took me down, memory lane as I started to get rid of things and move them.
I grew up in a cluttered home and often I would be embarrassed and I would run all over the house to clean up before the company came over.

I never understood why this seemed to be a family trait, but I did know that it was an important lesson.
Clutter has a way of creeping in over-time. I wanted to understand why this appeared to be a family issue. I needed to get to the bottom of it once and for all.

I believe I understand now that clutter was a way of being safe as an empath.
The energy from the stuff helped keep the noise of other people's emotions away, as well as our connection to our own emotions so that we never had to deal with them.

The clutter brings up several factors:
The stuff itself gives you something to complain about; it takes up time and space so that you can't have time to do the things you love.

The other thing about it is that every object in your home has the energy that it holds.
When an empath is away from clutter and the busyness, it can become uncomfortable because other information is now able to get through, the energy, of people, spirit, the earth, and your own higher self.

When an empath is ready to let go of the stuff that has been keeping them safe, they often will need help to do it. The emotions can flood in while letting go and, a support person, a friend, family member or a coach are beneficial to help them process the information and the letting go.

They feel so deeply with every item and, any change can be difficult. An empath has difficulty in releasing items because they still have value, even if it isn't of use to them anymore, they understand that it can be useful to others. They don't want to waste something when someone can use it, create money from it and most especially not pollute the planet by just throwing it away.

An empath is very compassionate towards people because they see the value of everyone no matter what the person has been through, their class, their abundance, their stature, age, gender, and lifestyle. They see value in everything. They are often loyal to people for too long because they understand that everyone is capable of having a great life. They want to believe the best of people.

The other reason it is also difficult for empaths to let go is that they want to be helpful to others, always prepared to help, the MacGyver that can pull anything out of nowhere. They don't feel like they are enough, not feeling worthy. So, if they have what you need, they will give it to you just to be helpful or liked.
When you begin to feel worthy, the stuff is easier to release.

I think in my process of looking at this, I realize I came from a family of empaths, who felt so deeply, and had a lack of self-worth that became their self-protection which was passed down, from generation to generation.

Much Love,

Samantha 💖

Are you being told you are too sensitive!

An empaths childhood

You were often told as a child that you were too sensitive!

You were sensitive to the news, stories, and events that adults didn't feel affected by.

You deeply wanted to fix things that make the world a better place for all, It would affect you by feeling it in your body and you would easily cry.

You were often bullied because you cried so easily.

Often feeling physically sick or depressed especially when you felt unheard when you tried to express your concerns and even solutions.
You are amazing at creative ideas and solutions.

You were told not to worry and that you are too much in your head
This caused you to begin to doubt your intuition, not trust what you were feeling and you started to believe that you were too sensitive.

This is how we began to doubt our abilities to feel and know what is true.
We were told to toughen up, or don't worry about things that are happening in the world. As a child, this is so difficult because in our purest form we care so deeply and want to fix the world but just didn't have the capability to know how to do it.

When we became old enough, we just didn't know that we had the capability to change things. Over time many empaths began to numb out their sensitivity by keeping background noise on all the time like music or TV, eating too much, drinking too much, shopping too much or anything that would keep them busy to not feel.

At some point, an empath will come back to the realization of who they really are but often is through the dark night of the soul or some major event that wakes them up.

This year 2020 is helping us to remember that we are sensitive and caring people. It gave us time to pause, it gave us time to feel, it gave us time to see what is not working in the world and can't be ignored anymore.

It is time to remember this is who we are as an empath we feel deeply and care about others.

There is nothing wrong with being sensitive and that gives you great power to change things in the world and to heal yourself because you allow yourself to feel.

Book a discovery call if you would like to learn more about being an empath, understand how to work through the emotions and being sensitive.

Getting grounded in your own body

Why is it so important to be grounded in your own body? How do you know when you are not in your own body?

If you often feel lightheaded, or foggy then you most probably are not grounded fully in your body. Now this can get a bit confusing and you may think that you are not well which is a possibility too but using some grounding tools will help you discover which one is present. The reason it can be confusing is because sometime when we are not well we will leave our body just enough to not feel the pain. This can be from emotional and physical trauma too.

Here are few reasons we can become ungrounded:

Meditation: If we spent time in our upper chakras and/or traveled during our meditation and we did not give ourselves a few minutes to ground before we get up and out of the meditation

Past lives: Being still connected to past lives can keep us feeling floatie

Stress, trauma and Illness: When we are feeling uncomfortable or in pain we will leave our bodies for protection and often even after the event is over with we still have not full connected and grounded into our bodies.

Dreaming:  Often our spirit will astral travel during sleep and travel throughout earth or other planes or dimensions. When the spirit returns it may not be fully grounded, this sometimes can happen if you wake suddenly. If you have ever dreamt of falling downstairs or flying then you probably have traveled. Sometime your body will jump with the re-entrance of your spirit.

Some of the symptoms of being ungrounded are:

  • Feeling lightheaded
  • Foggy
  • Unwell
  • Dropping things
  • Lack of concentration
  • Seeing yourself from above

If you have experienced any of these then you need to get grounded. In general, it is good practice to ground daily anyway but here are a few options you can do:

Grounding Tools:
  1. Imagining that your feet have roots deep into Mother Earth
  2. Connecting in nature in anyway, walking, gardening
  3. Putting your bare feet or laying down on Mother Earth itself like on grass, sand or soil.
  4. Eating foods that are grounding that are of the earth, whole foods and red plant- based foods that connect with the root chakra.
  5. Wearing red or black clothing.
  6. Wearing crystals like hematite, obsidian, red jasper, bloodstone
  7. Meditating
  8. Washing dishes

Try any of these the next time you are feeling ungrounded. These are great tools to have when you are going through stressful times to help you think clearer.

Much love,

Samantha Vidal
